The Magic in Tempeh -

 

Originating in Indonesia, tempeh is a fermented soybean product made by a natural culturing and a controlled fermentation process that includes adding a tempeh starter, which is a mix of live mold. When it sits for a day or two, it becomes a cake-like, fermented food.

Tempeh may be just the protein source your body is looking for;

♡ Tempeh is a good source of isoflavones such as phytoestrogens and genistein. * this can offer menopausal symptom relief

♡ Rich in probiotics! Probiotics can help break down sugars and carbohydrates so they’re more easily digested, control harmful bacteria in the body, assist with indigestion & nutrient assimilation, fight chronic inflammation and even boost immune system function

Ingredients:

2 tsp coconut oil

1 (80z) package of tempeh, sliced into pieces

2 lemons, juiced

1/2 tsp fresh ginger, grated

1 - 2 garlic cloves, finely chopped

1/2 tsp ground cumin & 1/2 tsp Italian herbs

A generous splash of coconut amino or organic tamari sauce

A sprinkle of salt and freshly ground pepper

Method:

  1. Whisk together the lemon juice, garlic, ginger, cumin, Italian seasoning in a small bowl.

  2. Marinate your tempeh in this mix

  3. Melt the coconut oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add tempeh and cook for two to three minutes, flip and cook for another two minutes or until both sides of the tempeh slices are brown. Splash your coconut amino over the cooked tempeh and rotate to imbue the flavours

  4. Season with salt and pepper

  5. Serve with your favourite healthy sauce
